Someone has to save the planet, billions of innocent animals, and humanity from hunger, disease, war, violence, and climate change—and it won’t be the people telling you to eat “humane”, free-range, cage-free, organic, grass-fed “meat”, dairy, fish, and eggs.
Weapons of mass destruction are our knives and forks, and increasingly now days, our chopsticks. Veganism is the swiss army knife of the future; one instrument solves our ethical, economic, environmental, water and health problems, and ends animal cruelty forever. And paradoxically farmers have the most to gain. Farming wouldn’t end, it would boom—only the product line would change. Veganism is the engine of redirected economic growth.
Justice must be blind to race, colour, religion, and to species. If she is not blind, she will be used as a weapon of terror, and today there is unimaginable terror in those ghastly guantanamos we call factory farms and slaughterhouses.
Veganism does not describe our nationality, our politics, our religion, our diet, or our lifestyle; it describes our character.
Philip Wollen‘s speech was recorded on 22nd March at the 2015 World Vegan Summit in Southern California.
